Susan Sontag, Illness as a Metaphor wrote “Everyone who is born holds dual citizenship in the kingdom of the well and the kingdom of the sick. Although we all prefer to use only the good passport, sooner or later each of us is obliged, at least for a spell, to identify ourselves as citizens of that other place.”
NV Awe: Tiny Treasures

The Honeycomb Project
At first glance, a honeycomb may seem like a simple geometric structure, but a closer look reveals its intricate design and precision. Composed of numerous hexagonal cells, each one works in harmony to create a cohesive whole, serving specific purposes—whether it’s storing honey, providing a home for the queen bee, or nurturing the brood. In a similar way, individuals within a community unite, each bringing unique talents, skills, and roles that contribute to the collective's well-being and growth. This metaphor emphasizes interconnectedness through relationships, shared experiences, and common goals, laying a strong foundation for collective resilience and development. The Honeycomb Project reflects our connections to one another through our environment and shared spaces.
Volume 1 of the Honeycomb Project highlights the contributions of the first artists involved, along with Truckee Meadows Community College students and collaborators.
Volume 2 of the Honeycomb Project showcases the contributions from numerous workshop participants in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada, along with artists from Twin Falls, Idaho. Together, these artists are exploring creativity through the collaborative Gelatin printmaking process, fostering an atmosphere of experimentation and innovation.
Volume 3 of the Honeycomb Project highlights the contributions from two dynamic workshops, alongside innovative classroom projects from Truckee Meadows Community College and Bishop Manogue Catholic High School. Additionally, artists affiliated with the Left of Center Gallery in Las Vegas have enriched this catalog with their creative insights. This volume also features individual artists from the rural landscapes of Nevada and California, showcasing a diverse array of talents.
